Orthopedic Referral Information for Clients

Looking to referral a patient?

We strive to make your referral appointment as stress-free as possible. We understand that this unexpected issue may be upsetting to you and your pet, but we hope you will get the answers and solutions needed to ease your mind.

Your veterinarian has referred you to our office for Dr. Montgomery's surgical and referral services. They will send us a referral form with information about you and your pet.

Expect a call from us within a few days after receiving your veterinarian's referral form.

What to do the night before

Your pet should not eat the night before their appointment after midnight.
Water is fine, even in the morning. This is in case your pet has to be sedated.
Do not administer pain medications 12 hours before your appointment so we can better assess your pet's pain level.

Please bring with you

  1. Your pet’s medications
  2. Copies of your pet’s x-rays (if applicable)

If you cannot make your appointment, please get in touch with our office at least 24 hours in advance. No-shows may be charged.
Please note that you might have to wait longer than usual to be seen due to the unpredictable nature of referral appointments.

Payment is expected at the time of service

Our consultation fee is $200.00. If surgery is performed that day or scheduled soon enough that the exam does not need to be repeated (determined by Dr. Montgomery), this fee will be applied toward your surgical cost. A $500 deposit is required if scheduling a surgery.
The consultation fee does not include the cost of any additional sedation, x-rays, or medications.
An estimate of these procedures will be given to you for consent before being performed.

Payment types Accepted

  • We accept AMEX, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, local check, and cash.
  • We accept Care Credit with a 6-month deferred interest payment plan for visits exceeding $200.
Visit Care Credit for more information and to get approval.

Appointments and Surgery

Appointments are by referral only and occur in the morning on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Surgeries start after 12:00 PM

Dr. Montgomery will call you when your pet is in recovery AFTER the surgery. It can be after 5:00 PM as there are multiple surgeries that day, and some can be unpredictable. Depending on when they go in the surgery line-up for that day and how quickly they are waking up, discharge times are typically between 5:00 and 8:00 PM

Our location

We are located at 9051 N Davis Hwy in Pensacola.
We are approximately one mile from Hwy 90 and Interstate 10, just north of West Florida Hospital.
